Stomach Cancer

Cancer that occurs in the stomach. Risk factors may include smoking and a diet of highly processed or salty foods. There may be no symptoms of stomach cancer early on. Later, symptoms include feeling bloated after eating, nausea, heartburn or indigestion, hematemesis (vomiting blood), black coloured stools (Malena) or gastric outlet obstruction with repeated bouts of vomting.

Treatment options include surgery, and chemotherapy.


Surgery

  • Radical Subtotal Gastrectomy with D2 lymphadenectomy
  • Radical Total Gastrectomy with D2 lymphadenectomy
  • Gastrojejunostomy
  • Adjacent organ infiltration may need additional organ resection such as pancreas, and spleen.
